So, today I arranged an afternoon w/0 kids. I know - how exciting is that!! I'm doing a kid swap with a friend of mine with 3 kids. She watched my kids for 3 hrs this afternoon and then in a couple weeks I'll watch one of hers (while the other 2 are at camp with Eben) for the whole day. I don't think I've ever been home alone able to clean in years! It was great to have time to do things I've been putting off, and not have kids hanging off me!
I'm having a pool playdate tomorrow morning, and since it was calling for rain this afternoon, I decided to mow in the back. By the time Jared got home, I figured it would be too wet to mow. Now, I don't mow often, but I was looking forward to some good sweaty exercise. What I got was a little more than that. I had to stop half way through to wipe the sweat and dirt from my eyes. They were burning so bad I couldn't keep them open. I was happy that a good wipe from my shirt did the trick. Little did I know that something much worse than 'stinging' eyes was about to happen. I was about 5 minutes from finishing when I felt some pain on my arm, then my head. After another one on the head I realized I was getting stung by bees. I turned of the mower, pulled my hair clips out of my hair and flung my head around trying to get rid of any lingering bees. I then noticed the bees swarming around about 10 feet in front of me. I had ran over a hidden hive in the ground. Perhaps it wasn't wise, but I finished mowing, since I knew I wouldn't have to go near them to complete the job. I'll tell you what - stings on the top of your head hurt like crazy!!!! Its been a few hours and my head still kills. My arm is quite well, but man - I hope I never get stung on the head again..... I guess I 'took the stings' for Jared, since he is the one that usually mows, and more than likely would have gotten stung. Tomorrow we'll be spraying it so there won't be any left when the fam comes.
